As part of the «DECIDE: RECONSTRUCTION» initiative, a school shelter was repaired and equipped in the Chernihiv region
The shelter was opened and updated at H.F. Voronyi Zhuravska Institution of General Secondary Education in the Chernihiv region. Repair and equipping took place with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian Project DECIDE within the framework of the «DECIDE: RECONSTRUCTION» initiative.
2.4 million grant funds from the DECIDE Project were invested in the repair of 284 square meters of the area. Another 500 thousand hryvnias are co-financed by the Varva Territorial Community.
From now on, the school shelter is truly safe, modern and comfortable. The cell was filled with comfortable furniture, computer equipment, thematic zoning areas, etc. The comfort of the space has already been tested by the pupils of the school, having conducted both lessons and extracurricular activities in the shelter.
The new shelter can accommodate 300 children at a time. This is extremely important since the air alert sounds in the Chernihiv region several times a day. Thanks to the renovation of the space, schoolchildren will be able to continue offline learning, as well as feel comfortable and safe.
To involve young people in the planning and modelling of the shelter space, DECIDE experts will conduct thematic trainings this week.
