Public discussion of high school reform held in Dnipro
On 28 November, all 60 communities of the Dnipropetrovsk region joined a dialogue on the reform of specialised secondary education and its implementation in the region. The event was organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with the Swiss-Ukrainian project DECIDE and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration. More than 150 participants took part in the event.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, a network of 161 academic lyceums and 55 vocational schools is being planned. However, the demographic and security situation makes it difficult for the founders to create a network.
The survey showed that the essence of the reform has become clearer for the territorial communities of Dnipropetrovsk region - this was stated by 72% of respondents.
Valentyna Poltorak, DECIDE Project Manager, noted that the creation of a network of educational institutions should take into account the needs of communities:
“One of the key stages of the reform is the establishment of an effective network of educational institutions that would take into account the specifics of the communities. We have already held discussions with more than 800 communities in 14 regions of Ukraine. This format makes it possible to understand the conditions in which communities plan their networks, because, in addition to the war and demographic challenges, each community has its own specific features. The position of the communities will be reflected in the Reform Strategy.”
