Public discussion of the reform of specialized secondary education took place in Rivne

With the support of the DECIDE Project, a public discussion of school reform was held in the Rivne region. These gatherings serve the primary objective of including territorial communities in the creation of the Reform Strategy, the formulation of proposed legislation and regulations, and the establishment of a regional network of senior specialized education institutions.

There are 64 territorial communities in the Rivne district. The number of students who will potentially study in lyceums and vocational colleges in 2027, is more than 50 thousand. It is planned that 86 specialized secondary education institutions (53 academic and 33 professional areas) will operate in the region, and all the rest will provide primary and basic secondary education.

More than 160 participants participated in the discussion, including representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the DECIDE project, the RMA, the regional council, the heads of territorial communities and the heads of education departments.

66% of the discussion participants noted that the essence of the reform became clearer as a result of the event. At the same time, the understanding of the "rules" of reform implementation has also increased from 83% to 92%.

«We accompany the development of the Strategy and the Roadmap of the reform with a large expert team. Despite the war and a very unfavourable demographic situation, we must plan for the development of education that would allow every child in Ukraine, regardless of whether they were born in a city or a village, to realize themselves», — Valentina Poltorak as the DECIDE Project Manager said stressing the importance of dialogue and joint work in the reform process.

As a result of discussions with the Ministry of Education and Science, territorial communities and RMA, a Reform Strategy will be created and a promising network of specialized secondary education institutions will be formed.
