Strategy for the Development of Education in Poltava region: interim results and plans for the future
On 11 December 2024, a monitoring session on the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Education in Poltava region was held in Poltava. The session was attended by heads of communities, members of local councils, educators and members of the working group who developed the Strategy.
Some of the important results are as follows:
✔ 100% of out-of-school, vocational and specialised pre-higher education institutions have been provided with shelters;
✔ Almost 20% more schools now have high speed internet access;
✔ 32% of communities have established professional development centres for the teaching staff.
✔ The number of teachers covering three or more subjects has decreased;
✔ Transportation of students to educational institutions is being restored: after a sharp decline (as a result of the large-scale war) in 2022 from 99% to 83%, transportation now covers 93.3% of the need;
✔ The number of students who choose vocational or professional pre-higher education after grade 9 is growing.
Due to the challenges of the large-scale war, some indicators have deteriorated significantly, including the involvement of young teachers in educational institutions, the coverage of children in clubs in general secondary education and extracurricular activities, etc.
This meeting proved that despite the challenges, Poltava region is moving towards creating up-to-date, safe and innovative educational environment for all children. Together we are shaping the education that changes the future!
